Rev. Dr. John H. Womack was born and raised in Lunenburg County, Virginia. His parents worked as sharecroppers. He graduated from Lunenburg High School in Victoria and enlisted in the U S Navy. Rev. Womack married his wife Bertha and had three children, Tonya, John Jr. and Monica. Upon leaving the armed forces, Reverend Womack’s first job was a Sales Representative at Record Wagon in Woburn, MA. Following his employment with Record Wagon, Reverend Womack began work as an ironworker for McGarrahan Steel Erection.

In 1977, while still working for the Salem Fire Department, Reverend Womack, with a mop and bucket, started his own company and named it “John’s Janitorial Services, Inc.” later change to JJS Services Inc, Reverend Womack often states that money and education are not requisites to starting a business or to make it in this world; rather, it is the proper state of mind or frame of reference. Reverend Womack’s frame of reference has always been and continues to be his Christian belief and his faith in God.

On February 18, 1989, Reverend Womack accepted his call to the Christian Ministry by preaching his trial sermon and by receiving his license to preach. In May 1990, after attending night school for ten years, he received his Master of Religious Education degree from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary.

In 1993, Reverend Womack began his pastoralship at Metropolitan Baptist Church. Prior to serving the Lord at Metropolitan Baptist Church, Reverend Womack served as a Family Minister at St. John’s Baptist Church in Woburn, MA. In March 1998, the Womack’s sold their main business, JJS Services, Inc., to another minority-owned business in Maryland. Reverend Womack then concentrated on fulfilling his promise to God by “moving from success to significance.” By fulfilling his commitment to God, he dedicated his whole life to ministering to God’s people as Pastor of Metropolitan Baptist Church so as to carry out the vision which God had given him for the community.

In June 2001, Reverend Womack received his Doctor of Ministry from Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary.
Reverend Womack recognizes that God has made all his accomplishments possible, and he encourages others to pursue their dreams, for it is the Lord and not one’s ethnic background that allows one to realize his or her dreams.

In July 2010, Rev. Womack retired from pasturing at Metropolitan Baptist Church due to health reason on disability through American Baptist Churches (MMBB). His Goal now is to seek healing as he continues to be a servant for Christ, helping others in any way he can shear his God given gifts, abilities and experiences.

The Womack’s now live in Polk City Florida where they are members at New Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Lakeland, Florida where Rev. Womack serves on the ministerial staff there.

Since retirement Reverend Womack has written two books: Sharecropper to Entrepreneur to Pastor, sub-title Looking Back and Giving Thanks and Witnessing the Providence of God. Both books are written with the intent to give testimonies that will help others to acknowledge and give thanks to God for His providential present in our life.
